Cleaning out the Clutter- Step One

So, one of the first things I am going to try to do is clean up all the junk in my life. Right now I just feel SOOOO bogged down by "stuff", and I really think it's hindering me. For instance, if my kitchen was clean and well organized, I would probably be more likely to cook at home instead of grabbing something on the way to wherever I'm headed. If my office was a clean, organized space, I'd be less likely to head to the coffee shop and spend $4 for coffee and wi-fi... and it'd be easier to keep track of things like rebate receipts and whatnot. So, I'm going to start focusing on one room a week. I'll post before and afters for a little bit of accountability.

I'm going to start with my bathroom. I'm kind of planning to go the Dave Ramsey approach with a "cleaning snowball"... starting with the easiest to clean and moving up. The bathroom is small and should be relatively easy. So, I'll give myself till bedtime on Sunday.

Here's what my bathroom looks like now:

Please don't judge. I was pregnant. Then I was depressed. Until the past couple of weeks, I hadn't done any cleaning since January. Yes, I realize it's almost September.

I'm broke

It happens to the best of us.

I'm not in debt or way behind on bills or anything... but, I'm not in a very comfortable spot, either. I'm working part time (but looking for a better job... either part or full time) and going to school online. I lost my job about a year ago when I got pregnant with the child I later placed for adoption (see this blog for more about that), and have kind of been floating around trying to find something ever since. I've always been one to have odd jobs in queue and find income or free stuff from random sources. So, I've decided to see how I can do primarily living on these "alternative" sources of income.

I've started doing surveys online, I've got my first mystery shops happening this weekend, I'm making plans to do some online offers... plus the old standbys- pet sitting, taking care of people's books, possibly donating plasma... we'll see.

Since I've realized I enjoy blogging, and I know a lot of other people are in the same spot I'm in, I thought I'd start this blog and share my experiences. Hope it helps!
